The approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research was obtained for the introduction of the doctoral study at the Department of Chemistry in the College of Science for the next academic year 2020-2021. This came after meeting all the requirements by the Deanship of the College and professors of the department.

The Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Jasim Hanoun Hashim, stated that this step is an addition to the many accomplishments of the college. He also added that it will provide higher education institutions in our university and other universities with PhD holding staffs.

The head of the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Adnan Ibrahim Muhammed, stated that this achievement will provide the holy city of Karbala and the whole country with highly skilled and specialized personnel and spare the city’s residents the trouble of joining universities in other governorates to get this important degree.

He added that chemistry is considered one of the broadest and largest of the applied sciences. It is the basis of many industries such as oil refining and cement and food industries. Moreover, it supports other disciplines such as medicine, pharmacy and agriculture.
