During a meeting with the International Team for Academic Evaluation, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi reviewed indicators of the performance of Iraqi universities and their top scores in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Dr. Al-Aboudi highlighted the aspect of visions and measures taken by the Ministry in light of the modernization of curricula, revealing the formation of a higher committee to review this file.
His excellency demonstrated benefit from the experiences of international universities, market requirements and specialized knowledge variables in all academic fields.
Dr. Al-Aboudi said that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its universities are keen on organizing and enhancing the environment of cooperation between Iraqi universities and their foreign counterparts, as well as studied openness to productive international partnerships that serve university education in Iraq.
His excellency also reviewed the Iraqi government’s intention to establish a new public university and meet its requirements within the current year to absorb the momentum on Higher Education’s institutions and open the way that coincides with attracting foreign students within the Study in Iraq initiative.
The International Team reviewed the report on the visits and follow-up to the Iraqi University in light of the indicators of strength and weakness, program exchange, scientific twinning, international openness, aspect of scientific research and its achieved results at the level of international publication and influence in the fields of community service.
The International Team described its visit to the Iraqi university institutions that obtained top scores in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings and nominated to compete in it as distinguished for which results were nominated that will enhance the work strategy of Higher Education’s institutions in Iraq.
It is worth mentioning that the International Team for Academic Evaluation included Dean of Higher Education and Emerging Technologies in the Queensland Government and former Vice-Chancellor of Union University Australia, Dr. Talal Youssef, Head of The Times Rankings for the Middle East and Africa, Mr. Nick Davis, Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology at the Australian University of Queensland, Dr. Steve Hall and Chair of akademi professor malaysia, Dr. Salih Jaafar, as well as the Iraqi Ministry’s Deputy for Scientific Research Affairs and a number of university presidents.
