During a visit to the University of Kirkuk and its classrooms, campus and laboratories and meeting the University’s Council, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi appreciated the interest of its scientific and administrative staff on developing its educational environment.
Dr. Al-Aboudi reaffirmed the importance of improving the quality of academic performance and the participation of all university employees, including faculty members, administrators and workers in achieving this goal on which the educational process and its components are based with direct contact with the community.
His Excellency reviewed that the procedures related to improve quality are related to the vision and mission of the institution and its goals in developing human resources and infrastructure and modernizing the educational system.
Dr. Al-Aboudi highlighted that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research made a positive decision to adopt the Bologna Process and the studied shift towards the course system, as well as modernization and reviewing of curricula in line with the requirements of the labor market and variables of knowledge in different fields of specialization.
His Excellency called on the Deans of colleges and Heads of departments to provide all educational requirements, employ the available capabilities and organize cooperation and twinning programs with the recognized international universities.
Dr. Al-Aboudi added that the “Study in Iraq” initiative aimed at attracting foreign students will provide an important impetus for Iraqi universities in an environment of global competition.
His Excellency demonstrated that the changes and challenges necessitate the university redouble its scientific efforts and responsibilities.
Dr. Al-Aboudi also reviewed the remarks and proposals of the President and members of the University Council who praised the Ministry’s interest and care on the affairs of universities, their plans and academic programs achieved.
It is worth to be mentioned that the visit was accompanied by the Governor, Mr. Rakan Saeed Al-Jubouri, a number of deputies of the Governorate and the Director of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation.
