A master’s dissertation in the College of Science at the University of Kerbala has discussed the molecular characterization of some virulence factors in some locally isolated bacterial diarrhea causes.
The study, presented by a student “Huda Abbas Muhammad” aimed at identifying the bacteria that cause children’s diarrhea and the most important virulence factors possessed by Escherichia coli and its relationship to antibiotic resistance.
The research sample consisted of collecting stool samples from healthy children and those with diarrhea under the age of 5 years, isolating and diagnosing the bacteria that cause diarrhea, as well as conducting an antibiotic sensitivity test and conducting molecular detection by PCR technique for 40 isolates of Escherichia coli.
The letter has recommended conducting an antibiotic sensitivity test for any infection, in order to obtain the appropriate antibiotic and reduce dependence on antibiotics in the treatment of diseases caused by bacteria and resort to other alternative methods.
