During Advisory Board Meeting, Dr. Al-Aboudi Urges Stimulating Scientific Research & Disbursing Reward Worth Three Million Dinars & Appreciation for Publishing in Recognized International Journals

During chairing the regular meeting of the Advisory Board, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi directed all universities to meet and interact with the requirements of the labor market and society’s need for developmental specializations.

Dr. Al-Aboudi stressed on the importance of preparing the necessary realistic plans regarding admission to postgraduate studies for the academic year 2024/2025 again.

His Excellency also directed continuing to grant non-exclusive legal powers to universities and enabling them to achieve their mission and their objectives in providing educational services.

Dr. Al-Aboudi urged on stimulating recognized scientific research and publishing and disbursing a financial reward worth three million Iraqi dinars and a letter of appreciation for the faculty members who publish their researches in scientific journals affiliated with (Nature and Science Journals) and (TOP Journals in Shanghai Ranking).

For their part, the attendees reviewed a project related to establishing an electronic system for managing and supervising the scientific and administrative procedures for postgraduate students.

For their part, Presidents of Technical Universities reviewed a number of proposals that would strengthen the environment of technical institutes and stimulate their climate in attracting student according to studied proportions.

It is worth to be mentioned that the meeting was attended by the Ministry’s advanced staff and Presidents of Public Universities.

It is worth to be mentioned that the members of the Advisory Board voted on a number of decisions as the following:

▪️ Adopting the recommendations of the Training of Trainers (TOT) course regarding psychological counseling and educational guidance formations, as well as activating its activities in all universities.

▪️ Setting a time limit not to exceed three months to submit plans for public and private universities and their colleges and departments to complete the requirements for institutional and program accreditation.

▪️Approving on establishing evening studies in the Department of Cybersecurity at the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul.

▪️ Approving on granting postgraduate students transferred from outside Iraq according to the regulations, a new study leave in terms of the duration of study and its promise in terms of contractual obligations to complement the study outside Iraq, with the student’s commitment to serve twice the period of study inside and outside Iraq in order to guarantee the financial amounts disbursed by their Directorates.

▪️ Addressing the case of scholarship, fellowship and study leave students who have previously been considered dismissed from the job for not returning after obtaining the contracted certificate by requiring them to fulfill the contractual obligation of serving twice the period of study in State’s Directorates after their appointment by the Federal Service Council, provided that there are no decisions and judicial orders obliging them to pay the sums of money spent on them.
