His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi honored more than a hundred winners of the Iraqi Al Ain University Award in its fourth edition for 2024, which included pioneering researchers, top universities, authors of highly influential research, authors of books and distinguished female academics.
Dr. Al-Aboudi emphasized on the importance of scientific research in addressing development problems.
His Excellency highlighted a strategic goal for its institutions related to the academic environmental quality, strengthen the publishing space in established journals, establish global partnerships with international libraries and publishing institutions, launch open accounts for faculty members, researchers and students in Scopus, adopt a successful policy and decisions to stimulate scientific research through direct financial and moral support and initiate the establishment of central scientific laboratories.
Dr. Al-Aboudi added that the Ministry highlighted the scientific research at the top of its priorities.
His Excellency demonstrated that this vital field represents a fundamental focus in developing services and achieving comprehensive progress and that the decisions taken and the policy adopted in this aspect to develop the incentive to produce qualitative research and encourage innovation and development with the aim at serving society.
It is worth to be mentioned that the honoring ceremony included delivering speeches and a presentation by the Deputy of the Ministry, Dr. Haider Abd Dhahd, President of the Al-Ain University, Dr. Shafiq Shaker Shafiq, the representative of the Elsevier Foundation, the representative of Iranian universities and the representative of Malaysian universities and the event concluded with honoring the university presidents whose institutions achieved a positive indicator in the field of scientific publishing.
It is worth to be mentioned that the ceremony was attended by a number of Parliament Members, Deputies, University Presidents, General Directors, faculty members and researchers.
