A dissertation in the College of Science has discussed the investigation of the role of miRNA as a vital indicator in patients with arthritis. The study, conducted by student Ahmad Jawad Hassan at the College of Science, aimed to comprehend the role of microRNA as a biological marker in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis patients, exploring its correlation with certain physiological indicators.
The study concluded that the dysregulation of miRNAs, specifically miR-146a, plays a role in weakening cellular functions in the pathological development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and gradual joint damage. miR-146a could potentially be used as a sensitive indicator for diagnosing and detecting RA disease.
