The College of Science at the University of Karbala organized a training course on waterborne diseases with the participation of a group of students and researchers. The three-day course aimed to familiarize participants with diseases transmitted to humans and animals through water, identify methods of transmission, and reveal the health risks of contaminated water.
The course covered the identification of the spread of infectious waterborne diseases based on the causative agent, whether bacterial, viral, or parasitic, and specifying the source of these agents. It also highlighted the preventive measures and protection against waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever, viral hepatitis, polio, schistosomiasis, malaria, and giardiasis.
