During the inauguration of the National Conference on Green Education, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi stressed the investment of Iraq’s international partnership with UNESCO in the fields of green education, achieving sustainable development goals and confronting environmental challenges.
Dr. Al-Aboudi reviewed that Iraq is part of the global partnership with UNESCO in the fields of green education, and this stage It requires moving towards a future that relies on sustainable work, which must be based on the Higher Education sector as a vital basis for achieving development goals and uncovering environmental challenges.
His Excellency urged Iraqi academic institutions to enhance the fields of scientific research, capacity building, and enhance awareness and education of the importance of preserving the environment.
Dr. Al-Aboudi highlighted that this type of interest stems from the tasks and responsibilities of Higher Education in achieving development goals and devoting serious and persistent efforts to formulating curricula and providing scientific and laboratory capabilities that constitute an integrated map way to undermine future challenges.
For their part, Mr. Al-Mandalawi and Dr. Al-Khayyat praised the indicators of scientific development in Iraqi Higher Education and Scientific Research’s institutions, the advancement of international ranking platforms and the achievement of productive partnerships in a green education environment.
For their part, Ministry’s Deputy for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Haider Abd Dhahd and representative of the UNESCO Office, Mr. Tam Mayzon delivered a presentation on sustainable development aspects and the scientific research index in this field.
It is worth to be mentioned that the conference was attended by the President of the Iraqi Parliament, Mr. Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, Chairman of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee, Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayyat and a number of Parliament Members, representatives of UNESCO and international organizations, deputies, university presidents and deans of public and private colleges.
