The University of Karbala Organizes a Symposium on the Economic Causes of Divorce and Proposed Solutions

The College of Science at the University of Karbala, under the supervision of Dean Professor Dr. Hassan Jameel Jawad and organized by the Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, Professor Dr. Iman Talib Karim, in collaboration with the Human Rights Committee at the college, held an educational symposium entitled “The Economic Causes of Divorce and Proposed Solutions.”

The symposium, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Firas Hussein Ali Al-Saffar from the Center for Strategy at the University of Karbala, aimed to highlight the main causes of the divorce phenomenon in Iraqi society and the statistics supporting this. It was found that the highest rates of divorce are due to the misuse of social media.

The symposium included the presentation of statistics from the past ten years, showing the number of marriages compared to the number of divorces registered both inside and outside the court.

The symposium recommended the activation of the role of social researchers to educate married couples on the dangers of divorce and its negative impact on Iraqi families in general, and on the upbringing and education of children in particular.
