The Dean of the College of Science at the University of Karbala, Professor Dr. Hassan Jamil Jawad Al-Fatlawi, attended the events of the first conference on technological and scientific incubators held at the University of Baghdad, representing the President of the University, Professor Dr. Basim Khalil Nayel Al-Saidi. The conference was sponsored and attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, along with senior staff from the ministry, several members of parliament, and presidents of Iraqi universities.
The minister emphasized the ministry’s achievement of its sustainable development goals, noting that Iraq ranked seventh globally and first in the Arab world in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for Sustainable Development 2024.
The minister stressed the importance of technological incubators in developing the skills of students and graduates, bridging the gap between educational outputs and the labor market. He highlighted that the ninth amendment to the Ministry of Higher Education Law supports the establishment of these incubators in universities. These incubators provide a comprehensive environment that includes funding, mentorship, the development of technical and managerial skills, and facilitating connections between entrepreneurs and investors, thereby enhancing economic development and reducing youth unemployment.
