A doctoral dissertation at the College of Science, University of Karbala, examined breast cancer immunology in conjunction with pathological and immunohistochemical correlations.
The study, presented by A’thab Abdulameer Ibrahim from the Biology Department , aimed to investigate the relationship between immunity and breast cancer, test the association between cancer and pathological tissue markers, and find the connection between regulatory T-cell immune markers and pathological tissue markers.
The study concluded that there is an increase in regulatory T-cells in patient groups compared to the control group. It also found a relationship between breast cancer patients with blood types A and O and identified a connection between the age of breast cancer patients and an increase in tumor mediators.
The study recommended further research on the molecules expressed by regulatory T-cells, the investigation of breast cancer in terms of whether it is lobular or ductal and its relationship with regulatory T-cells, and the study of breast cancer tumor mediators at the genetic level.
