Initiation of Scientific Collaboration Between the College of Science – Medical Physics Branch and Al-Warith International Foundation for Oncology

The College of Science – Medical Physics Branch at the University of Karbala announces the commencement of scientific collaboration with the Al-Warith International Foundation for Oncology. This collaboration includes regular visits by Medical Physics students to Al-Warith Hospital.

This program aims to enhance the practical experience of students by providing them with firsthand exposure to specialized medical equipment in their field of study. The program yields the following outcomes:

1. Enriching Practical Knowledge: These visits allow students to become familiar with the latest equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of radiation oncology.
2. Enhancing Practical Understanding: Students will gain insights into the operation of this equipment through practical explanations provided by the hospital’s specialized medical and technical staff.
3. Valuable Experience: Students will have the opportunity to acquire new skills related to the operation and handling of medical equipment, thereby developing their practical abilities and strengthening their applied knowledge.

These visits are part of the College of Science’s broader efforts, particularly within the Medical Physics Branch, to integrate academic education with practical training. This enables students to closely observe advanced tools and technologies used in medical physics.

The program schedule will be organized according to the set visitation timetable at Al-Warith Hospital for Oncology. All students are encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity to enhance their practical skills and knowledge in medical physics.

It is noteworthy that the Medical Physics Branch, a recent addition within the Department of Physics, allows specialization starting from the third year (Medical Physics Branch, General Physics Branch). Third-year students in the morning program began their studies in the Medical Physics Branch at the start of the 2024-2025 academic year.
