The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Science, University of Karbala, organized an educational seminar titled “Safe Food for a Healthy Tomorrow.”

The seminar, presented by Prof. Narges Hadi Mansour, a biochemistry professor in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, covered the components of healthy human nutrition and the habits needed to maintain a disease-free, healthy lifestyle. Dr. Narges began her talk with Quranic verses emphasizing the importance of balanced, moderate food and drink for well-being.

This seminar coincided with World Food Day on October 16, which highlights the principle that food is a fundamental human right essential for a sustainable future. The occasion serves as a reminder that approximately 733 million people face food insecurity due to conflict, marginalization, climate change, poverty, and economic contraction.

Additionally, the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has advocated for programs aimed at supporting the public health of women and girls.
