A scientific study reveals the role of parasites in the degradation of aquatic environments

Assistant Lecturer Marwa Hassan Jawad, a faculty member in the Department of Biology at the College of Science, University of Karbala, achieved a significant scientific milestone by publishing her research in a prestigious international scientific journal at Yozgat University in Turkey. The study focuses on examining the prevalence of parasites in the freshwater of the Euphrates River compared to their prevalence in the saline waters of Lake Razzaza. The findings revealed the presence of various parasite species that negatively impact fish growth and lead to their mortality, posing a major threat to Iraq’s fish resources and causing significant economic losses.
