The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, University of Karbala, achieved a remarkable scientific accomplishment by securing first place in the 2024 Chemistry Olympiad, held during the Arab Chemistry Week Festival at the University of Kufa.

The competition saw participation from students of chemistry departments at the universities of Karbala, Kufa, Babylon, and Al-Qadisiyah. University of Karbala students claimed the top position, earning the gold level distinction.

On the sidelines of the Olympiad, Assistant Professor Dr. Thaer Mahdi Madlool, Head of the Chemistry Department at the College of Science, was honored with the Creativity Shield by the College of Education for Women at the University of Kufa, in recognition of his active participation in the event’s activities.

This distinguished achievement by the students of the Chemistry Department highlights the pioneering status of the University of Karbala in advancing its educational and research excellence.
