The Women’s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Razzaza and West Euphrates Research Unit at the College of Science, University of Karbala, organized a workshop titled “The Impact of Climate Change on the Local Environment, Innovative Solutions, and Sustainable Development.”
The workshop, presented by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hasan Jameel Jawad Al-Fatlawi, aimed to raise awareness about climate change, one of the greatest challenges facing the world today. Climate change significantly impacts the local environment, causing rising temperatures, shifting weather patterns, and an increase in natural disasters such as droughts and floods. These phenomena threaten agriculture, water resources, biodiversity, and public health.
The workshop discussed key innovative solutions to address climate change, including renewable energy, smart technologies, recycling, and sustainable development. These approaches aim to achieve a balance between economic growth and environmental protection through sustainable agriculture, green urban planning, and environmental education to raise community awareness about the importance of protecting the environment.
Addressing climate change requires global cooperation, the promotion of innovation, and the adoption of policies that support sustainability to ensure a secure future for upcoming generations.
