The Department of Physics at the College of Science, University of Kerbala, organized a seminar titled “The Big Bang Theory,” presented by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Abdul-Latif.

The seminar aimed to explore the major theories explaining the origin of the universe, estimate its age, and predict its future, relying on physical laws and modern astronomical data. It also highlighted key tools used in such studies, including telescopes and advanced space probes.

The seminar addressed contemporary and significant concepts in astronomy, such as “dark matter” and “dark energy,” which are among the most groundbreaking discoveries in modern astrophysics. These discussions revealed that these hidden components constitute over 90% of the universe’s makeup, while galaxies and stars account for less than 10%.
