The Human Rights Unit at the College of Science, University of Kerbala, held a scientific seminar titled “Women and Human Rights”, presented by Assistant Lecturers Fursan Abdullah Abd Ali and Ali Kazem Awad.
The seminar aimed to educate students about women’s rights as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and international treaties, while also highlighting the role of the Iraqi legislature in supporting these rights through provisions in the current Iraqi Constitution and related laws.
The seminar included a review of key legal articles that guarantee women’s rights, discussion of the challenges facing their implementation in practice, and exploration of ways to enhance women’s participation across various fields. The event also emphasized the importance of academic institutions in promoting a culture of human rights awareness.
