Faculty Member from the College of Science, University of Kerbala, Participates in Master’s Thesis Defense at the University of Kufa

Professor Dr. Khalid Ali Hussein, a faculty member in the Department of Biology at the faculty of Science – University of Kerbala, participated as a member of the examination committee for a Master’s thesis defense held at the College of Science – University of Kufa. The thesis, presented by student Mahmood Mustafa Raheem, was entitled:

“Evaluation of the Efficiency of Sour Orange Flower and Four O’Clock Plant Seed Extracts in Antioxidant and Antibacterial Activity Against Bacteria Isolated from Diabetic Foot Patients.”

The thesis aimed to explore natural alternatives to conventional antibiotics by investigating the biological efficacy of plant extracts. The study involved extracting bioactive compounds, analyzing their chemical components, assessing their antioxidant potential, and evaluating their inhibitory effects against bacterial strains.

The results demonstrated that the extracts were rich in bioactive compounds, exhibited strong antibacterial properties, and showed low cytotoxicity, suggesting their potential as safe and natural therapeutic agents.

The College of Science – University of Kerbala appreciates Professor Dr. Khalid Ali Hussein’s contribution to the examination committee, emphasizing that such participation reflects the scientific expertise of its faculty and strengthens academic collaboration among Iraqi universities.
