University of Kerbala Organizes a Workshop on Women’s Participation in Elections

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Faculty of Science, University of Kerbala, organized a training workshop titled “Women’s Participation in Elections as an Entry Point to Strengthening the Electoral Process” on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, delivered by Dr. Muthar Fares Al-Nasrawi from the Center for Strategic Studies.

The workshop focused on the importance of women’s political and electoral participation as a key factor in promoting democracy. It also reviewed women’s constitutional and legal rights, discussed social and cultural barriers, and presented successful experiences of women leaders.

Furthermore, the workshop emphasized the need for awareness and political empowerment programs, and encouraged political parties to integrate women into decision-making positions.

This workshop was held as part of the Third National Plan for Women, Peace, and Security, under the Participation and Social Reform pillar for October 2025, in collaboration with the Human Rights Unit and the Center for Strategic Studies at the University Presidency.
