College of Science Organizes an Awareness Activity Entitled “The Importance of Women in Society: From Rights to Sustainable Development”

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Science organized an awareness activity in the form of a poster presentation entitled “The Importance of Women in Society: From Rights to Sustainable Development,” as part of the implementation of the National Strategy to Combat Violence against Women and Girls. The activity was held within the events of the cultural festival organized by the college under the title “ Kerbala Creative Works: Women of the College of Science in the Spotlight”.

The poster highlighted the importance of women as a fundamental pillar in building society by emphasizing their human and legal rights as the basis for justice and equality, as well as their pivotal role in achieving sustainable development. It also underscored the impact of women’s empowerment in the fields of education, employment, and decision-making on enhancing economic growth and consolidating social stability.

The poster further stressed the need to combat all forms of violence against women and girls, considering such violence a violation of human dignity and an obstacle to development. It called for raising societal awareness, strengthening deterrent laws, and building a culture that respects women and safeguards their rights.

On the sidelines of the festival, the women of the College of Science organized an exhibition showcasing their handmade works, reflecting women’s success in the economic sphere and their ability to resist forms of violence that hinder their role in building society. In addition, an Arabic calligraphy workshop was held with the participation of female faculty members and students, presented by Mr. Adel Al-Mousawi, Head of the Calligraphers’ Association / Holy Karbala Branch.
