The University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Science, University of Kerbala, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Addressing Drug Abuse and Its Relationship to Suicide Among Youth”, as part of its awareness efforts aimed at mitigating negative phenomena and promoting students’ mental health.

The seminar addressed several key themes, most notably the causes of drug abuse among young people and its psychological and behavioral impacts. It also highlighted the correlation between substance abuse and the increased risk of suicidal ideation.

In addition, the seminar discussed prevention and treatment strategies, the importance of early awareness, and the role of families and educational institutions in supporting and guiding youth, thereby contributing to the reduction of such serious issues.

The event witnessed positive engagement from attendees through discussions and interventions that enriched the topic and enhanced its academic value.

At the conclusion of the seminar, emphasis was placed on the importance of continuing such awareness initiatives, given their vital role in protecting youth and promoting their psychological well-being and safety.
