Dr. Al-Aboudi Visits Headquarters of Arab Atomic Energy Agency in Tunisia, His Excellency Announces Iraq is soon Free of Depleted Uranium Waste

During visiting the headquarters of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency in the Republic of Tunisia and meeting with its Director General Dr. Salem Al-Hamdi, the head of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi announced that Iraq is soon completely free of depleted uranium.

Dr. Al-Aboudi reviewed fields of Arab cooperation in the field of developing energy for peaceful and educational uses.

His Excellency highlighted the aspects of the national vision of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission regarding the zero reactor, the research reactor, and nuclear power plants.

Dr. Al-Aboudi demonstrated that the efforts of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission are continuing to purify the remaining areas and that the final announcement of Iraq being completely free of depleted uranium waste will be soon.

His Excellency delivered an official invitation to host the 17th session of the Arab Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy in Baghdad.

For his part, the Director General of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency, Dr. Salem Al-Hamdi expressed his happiness at receiving His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi who confirmed Iraq’s determination to regain its position in the Arab Atomic Energy Agency.

Dr. Salem Al-Hamdi reviewed the agency’s need for Iraqi expertise and to benefit from the great scientific momentum that Iraq possesses, as well as appreciating the generous invitation by Iraq to host the work of the 17th session of the Arab Conference organized by the Arab Atomic Energy Agency for the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
