The College of Science at the University of Karbala organized a training course titled “Types of Molecular Markers and Their Applications in Plants, Environment, and Microbiology.”

The course aimed to introduce participants to the use of molecular markers in diagnosing and characterizing organisms, identifying gender, determining genetic fingerprints, creating genetic maps, and assessing genetic diversity in organisms across various environments.

The course highlighted the importance of using molecular markers in light of the rapid advancements in molecular biology and the continuous successes in genetic engineering, which have provided numerous solutions for employing molecular analysis of genetic material. This includes developing new methods to address problems using DNA markers, known for their greater accuracy, efficiency, and stability, while being more time- and effort-saving compared to other markers.
