University of Karbala Organizes a Training Course on Psoriasis in Children

The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Science, University of Karbala, organized a training course on autoimmune skin diseases, focusing on psoriasis.

The course aimed to raise awareness about autoimmune diseases affecting the skin, particularly psoriasis, a chronic skin condition that causes itchy, scaly patches, commonly appearing on the knees, elbows, and scalp.

The sessions covered the causes of psoriasis, including abnormal skin cell growth, immune system dysfunction, and genetic factors. The course also addressed potential complications such as psoriatic arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

Additionally, participants learned about diagnostic methods, including clinical evaluation and skin biopsy, concluding with an overview of treatment approaches, such as topical therapy, phototherapy, and systemic treatments.
