University of Kerbala at the College of Science Hosts Training Workshop on Cybersecurity for Beginners

The College of Science at the University of Kerbala organized a training workshop titled “Cybersecurity for Beginners: Understanding Threats and How to Counter Them”. The session was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Rafif Fawzi Najm, Lecturer Zainab Khudhur Mohsen, and Lecturer Basma Mustafa Mohammed.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness among beginners and individuals interested in learning the foundational principles of information security in the digital realm. It also sought to promote a culture of cybersecurity among participants.

Key topics covered in the workshop included: an introduction to cybersecurity and its significance; common digital threats such as phishing and malware; best practices for creating strong and secure passwords; the importance of enabling two-factor authentication to protect accounts; methods for defending against social engineering; and guidelines for safe browsing and responsible internet use.

This initiative is part of the College of Science’s ongoing efforts to enhance public awareness of cybersecurity and foster a strong digital safety culture across all segments of society.
