Faculty Member from University of Kerbala Participates in PhD Defense on Taxonomic-Chemical Evaluation of Tamarix

Asst. Prof. Dr. Khansa Abdul-Aali Shahid, faculty member at the Department of Biology, College of Science – University of Kerbala, participated as a committee member in the PhD defense of Fadila Hassan Alwan at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Karbala.
The dissertation, titled “Taxonomic-Chemical Evaluation of Tamarix (Tamaricaceae) Species in Karbala Province and Their Antifungal Activity,” highlighted the importance of chemical analysis (GC-MS) as a taxonomic tool, revealing significant diversity in secondary metabolites among the studied species.
The candidate received an “Excellent” grade. The College of Science praised Dr. Khansa’s participation, emphasizing the role of its faculty in advancing academic research and strengthening scientific collaboration.
