Higher Education Announces on Five Iraqi Universities, Topped by Baghdad University Obtain QS World University Rankings 2025

Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on that QS World University Rankings 2025, the global ranking of universities, reviewed the results of its 2025 edition, in which one thousand five hundred universities from various countries of the world were competed.

 

Higher Education highlighted that the official website for the rankings (https://www.topuniversities.com/world-university-rankings?countries=iq) also reviewed that Iraqi universities obtained competitive ranks, with the University of Baghdad obtained the score (801-850), Mustansiriyah University obtained the score (1001-1200), University of Babylon obtained the score (1201-1400), University of Basrah obtained the score (1201-1400) and University of Kufa obtained the score (1201-1400).

 

Higher Education added that the QS ranking depends in evaluating the universities on the criteria of academic reputation (30%), employers (15%), the ratio of students to faculty members (10%), citations (20%), international faculty members (5%), international students (5%), International Research Network (5%), employment (5%) and sustainability (5%).

 

It is worth to be mentioned that Iraq obtained the rank 37th worldly after 13 universities achieved competitive positions in The Times Ranking, Iraqi universities and colleges recorded their increasing competition in other global ranking, including the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects for the year 2023, in which several Iraqi universities were competed, University of Baghdad is included in the specialty (Dentistry & Oral Sciences), the Scimago Ranking, in which forty-seven institutions were competed, Greenmetric Ranking, in which the number of Iraqi educational institutions has increased to seventy-four universities and colleges, the RUR Ranking, in which forty-five Iraqi universities were competed, and the Webometrics Ranking is added to it, which more than a hundred Iraqi universities and colleges were competed.
