The College of Science at the University of Karbala organized a training course titled “Luminous Insects.”
The course aimed to explore luminous insects, their types, and the sources of light they emit for various purposes, such as mating, feeding, and defense. The light emitted by these insects is attributed to specialized light-emitting organs, derived from fat cells distributed across different parts of their bodies.
The course covered the identification of insect species capable of emitting light, discussed the benefits of luminous insects, and examined the external characteristics of these fascinating creatures.
