The College of Science at the University of Kerbala hosted the elections for the first administrative board of the Iraqi Association for Chemical Safety and Security. The event was held under the patronage of the presidencies of the University of Karbala and Al-Hilla Smart University, with direct supervision from the Supreme Council of Scientific Societies at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with the support of the College of Science at the University of Kerbala.
The event commenced with the Iraqi national anthem, followed by a moment of silence and the recitation of Al-Fatiha in remembrance of Iraq’s martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation and knowledge.
Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, President of the University of Kerbala, delivered the opening speech, expressing his pride in the university’s hosting of this significant national and scientific event. He emphasized that “chemical safety and security have become fundamental pillars in developing scientific laboratories and enhancing the quality of education and scientific research in Iraqi universities.”
The event also included introductory remarks outlining the objectives of the association, the election mechanism, and a presentation of future plans to promote awareness and training in chemical safety principles within academic and research institutions across Iraq.
The event concluded with the official elections for the association’s first administrative board, where a distinguished group of specialized academics was elected to lead the association
