Professor Dr. Ali Jabbar Abdul-Hussein Al-Kawaz, a faculty member in the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Science – University of Kerbala, has achieved a new scientific milestone with the acceptance of his research article for publication in the Kerbala International Journal of Modern Science, a prestigious peer-reviewed journal indexed in Scopus and classified within the first quartile (Q1).
The study, titled:
“Vitamin D3 Toxicity–Induced Hypercalcemia in Staphylococcal Arthritis: A Focus on IL-6”,
investigates the effects of toxic doses of Vitamin D3 and the resulting hypercalcemia in individuals with Staphylococcal Arthritis, with a particular focus on the role of the immune marker Interleukin-6 (IL-6).
This research represents a collaborative effort between researchers from:
• College of Biotechnology / Al-Qasim Al-Kadrah University
• Hammurabi College of Medicine / University of Babylon
The study was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Al-Kawaz at the College of Science – University of Kerbala, reflecting the college’s leading role in supporting interdisciplinary research, especially in the fields of microbiology, clinical chemistry, and medical sciences.
Classified as an Original Research Article, the paper was accepted for publication on June 6, 2025. It is considered a significant scientific contribution toward understanding the interactions between vitamins, ionic balance, and bacterial infections, with potential applications in both clinical and research contexts.
