College of Science Organizes a Workshop Entitled “Occupational Safety Management Systems in Accordance with International ISO Standards”

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Science organized a workshop entitled “Occupational Safety Management Systems in Accordance with International ISO Standards,” in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry. The workshop was held as part of Axis Five of the Executive Plan of the Iraqi National Strategy for Women (2026) during February 2026.

The workshop focused on the importance of implementing safety standards in work environments in order to reduce occupational accidents and injuries.

It also reviewed the fundamental principles of occupational safety management systems, including mechanisms for hazard identification and risk assessment, as well as the development of response and emergency plans. In addition, the workshop addressed documentation requirements, internal auditing procedures, and the importance of continuous improvement. It also highlighted the role of training and awareness in promoting a culture of safety among employees.

The lecturer emphasized that adherence to ISO standards contributes to creating a safe working environment, enhancing institutional performance efficiency, and reducing human and material losses.
