The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, University of Kerbala, organized a scientific field trip for second-year morning study students to Al-Furat General Company for Chemical Industries – Soda and Chlorine Plant.

During the visit, students toured all production departments, observing laboratory and manufacturing stages, with a detailed explanation provided by the plant’s engineering and technical staff.

Professors and students actively engaged with the plant’s staff, asking numerous questions, which were answered both practically and theoretically.

Key Products of the Soda and Chlorine Plant:

1. Caustic Soda: (31-33)% and (48-50)%

2. Liquid Chlorine: Minimum purity of 99.5%

3. Hydrochloric Acid: (30-32)%

4. Sodium Hypochlorite: Minimum 100 g/L of active chlorine content
